Today in my second Western Civilization class, we continued the video "Guns, Germs and Steel". I find this documentary very fasinating and intriguing. Mostly due to the different societies we are brought up in and how we see how in depth Jared Diamond gets into their life style. While we watched the video we had to take notes. -In Papa New Guinea Sago, their main source of food, was easier for them to get then hunting. In a tree in Papa New Guinea, trees carry 70ib of sago(One Tree). The only thing that isn’t super unfortunate is that sago is low on protein. It can’t be stored. In New Guinea, they have a thing called “gathering”. This is mainly done by women. In the middle East barley and wheat grows natureley. Then a new archeologist shows up named Ian Kuijt. In Draa they found the oldest village found. In america natural things that are grown here- corn, squash and beans. Africa- millet, sorghum, and yams. The reason we are doing better is all because geographic luck.
